Olympia couple disappear after muzzling dog with wire

Stewart Reams or Katherine Healy were the owners of a Pomeranian named Kona and a Lab mix named Annie . Apparently, Kona\`s barking had upset the couple enough that they muzzled her mouth shut with wire long enough for it to cut into the dog\`s jaw.

Stewart Reams or Katherine Healy were the owners of a Pomeranian named Kona and a Lab mix named Annie . Apparently, Kona\`s barking had upset the couple enough that they muzzled her mouth shut with wire long enough for it to cut into the dog\`s jaw. Photo King5.com The couple who lived in Olympia (WA) are now in hiding after a Thurston County investigator seized Kona and Annie after neighbors reported the abuse. At the time the investigator, Erika Quinn, removed the dogs from the couple\`s house, Kona had \"a red and raw, weeping, infected snout muzzle injury.\" Annie also bore signs of physical abuse, such as abrasions caused by chemicals or burns, as well being so emaciated that she was obviously being starved. A tether was pulled so tight around Annie\`s neck that it bled \"Annie had injuries indicative of physical abuse including beatings, skin abrasions that we don\`t know if they were chemical abuse or burns,\" said Quinn. Reams and Healy have been charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty and have disappeared. In the meantime, both dogs were placed in In new homes. Their address remains undisclosed as the authorities fear retribution from the couple. Annie is finally getting the food and care she needed. Kona is being nursed back to health and is reportedly thriving. While her mental scars may disappear with time, her physical scars are permanent. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the couple is asked to contact Olympia Police at: 360.753.8300. For More Info: EcoStar Law, PLLC: www.ecostarlaw.com
